Winter Reading Lists

Winter Reading Lists

This collection is called reading lists because it does indeed have links to reading lists created by various librarians and library workers, article writers, groups and organizations. But there are also lists of podcasts, videogames, comic books and graphic novels, apps, and whatever else comes along that people think it's important to see lists of. The photo above is Librarian Augusta Baker showing a copy of Ellen Tarry's "Janie Belle" to a young girl at the library. Librarian Augusta Baker is a legend of Black librarianship, in pushing for books that provided positive images of Black children, for Black children, in the 20th Century. "Janie Belle" was one of the first children's picture books published that was penned by a Black author, Ellen Tarry.
