Bruce Smith created a company, CAD Systems, Inc., to develop AutoCAD.
In 1980, Bruce Smith sold a computer-aided drafting (CAD) software application to Harry Rouw, the engineering manager for the DuPont plant in Bay City, Michigan. Rouw ordered a licensed copy of AutoCAD for his plant and gave his authorization to CAD Systems, Inc. for the sale of AutoCAD.
