This document presents the basic concepts of the LabVIEW Biomedical Toolkit, an application that includes graphical user interfaces and LabVIEW programming languages for hardware control, as well as processing data from multiple instruments. The document is divided into the following sections:
LabVIEW.TLK is an application that has been created by Novametrix and supports real-time signal processing on a wide range of instruments. It is based on LabVIEW for Windows and Linux (IEEE Std. 1003.2-2001) and is available as both a LabVIEW Component and a plug-in. It can be downloaded from the Novametrix website.
This is an example of LabVIEW running on Windows. The top-level window contains a list of instruments and their names and identifiers. The instruments can be selected to show their properties, and their channels can be configured.
The instrument list can be edited by selecting the Instrument column. Select an instrument to see its Properties dialog. It provides information about the instrument, as well as controls to select its channels, to set its properties, and to save the settings.
The location of the instrument list in the user interface can be customized. For example, if you prefer to have it at the top of the window, you can move it there using the Instrument Manager window. To do this, select the Instrument Manager icon.
If you are using LabVIEW for Windows, the names of the instruments are listed in a dropdown box. To change the label, select it and press Enter.
The list of instruments can be saved in a document, so that its contents can be loaded and unloaded without closing the application. It is possible to load a list of instruments from another application as well. For example, you can load the list of instrument names from a text file from the command line.
