F ree tutorials and training programs are available for the four main versions of Photoshop: CS, CS2, CS3, and CS4. Many of the free-to-download tutorials and training materials for Photoshop are offered by Apple.
Photoshop works fairly well with graphics tablets, and specialized software programs such as Photoshop Express can help you get started with image editing using a graphic tablet. These programs range from free to fairly expensive.
Understanding Photoshop Layers
Every version of Photoshop includes the idea of layers. Photoshop calls them photos, and when you create a new layer, you can call it a new photo.
You can create as many layers as you like — each one representing a different photo, a new portion of the original photo, or even a different aspect of the original image, such as a photo of the sky or the parts of a photo.
You might, for example, have five layers: The sky, the trees, the ground, the man, and the stool. You could make each layer a separate layer group, as shown in Figure 5-3.
You can make the layers visible or invisible at your whim. The Layers panel, shown in Figure 5-3, lets you choose which layers are visible.

Creating a new layer
If you've used a graphics program in the past, you know how to create a new layer. On a computer, open a new document. Choose File⇒New. In the New dialog box, choose Create a New Layer from the Layers panel. In Figure 5-3, you see the Create a New Layer from the Layers panel.
  If you're creating a background or other graphic on which to build other layers, you can save a few steps and use the Background Color box or Background panel to create a new layer while using a preset color. (The process is covered in more detail in the next section, "Using preset colors.")
In Photoshop CS4, you can create a new layer from the menu View⇒New Layer from Background, as shown in the middle of Figure 5-4.

A simple design, dark theme and proper sorting of tools makes it easier to select features. Elements looks simpler and easier to use.
However, if you want to work with professional tools like you can in Photoshop, you should use Photoshop.
In today's article, we will be covering what Photoshop Elements can do, which features it has and how to work with it when editing images.
Adobe Photoshop Elements -- advantages and disadvantages
Advantages
Cheaper
The primary advantage of using Elements over Photoshop is its price. Photoshop is a good tool for professionals, but it is expensive.
The price for Adobe Photoshop is $829. However, Adobe Elements is $149 (or free if you are a student). Therefore, it is cheaper than Photoshop and is suitable for everyone from hobbyists to professionals.
Lightweight
The second advantage is its weight. Elements is much lighter than Photoshop, so it is easier to operate.
Elements can also be run on an older computer because it uses fewer resources. If you have a computer that is not suitable for Photoshop, it will still work for Elements.
Online features
The third advantage is its online features. Photoshop offers online features such as color correction, tone adjustments and more.
Elements doesn't have all these options but it can still be used to edit images. Most online features can be found in the Internet section of Elements.
Smaller
The smallest version of Photoshop is the standard version. It comes with different tools and an extended selection area.
Elements doesn't have an extended selection area, but it does have many other features in common with Photoshop. It still has all the essential editing tools.
Unlimited storage space
Another advantage is its unlimited storage space. Elements comes with an additional 100 GB of free storage space, and it will keep the same amount of storage space even after the initial purchase.
However, in Photoshop, there is no such thing.
Advantages not included in Elements
Since Photoshop has a number of features not available in Elements, it can be used to create professional quality images.
Features
Many people want to edit images and create high-quality images using the simplest tools available. Photoshop is famous for its tools, but Elements doesn't have many of those.
However, it still has many of the essential features that are required to edit digital images. Photoshop doesn't have
