Update 6:25 p.m. EDT Aug. 23: The National Hurricane Center downgraded Henri to a post-tropical cyclone late Monday, but heavy rainfall and flooding is expected to continue across portions of southern New England through tonight.

According to WFXT, the NWS also confirmed that three tornadoes spawned by Henri’s remnants touched down in the Massachusetts communities of Marlborough, Stow and Bolton on Monday, each packing winds between 60 mph and 70 mph.

At 5 p.m. EDT, Henri was located about 60 miles north-northeast of New York City and about 50 miles west-southwest of Hartford, Connecticut. The post-tropical cyclone is now moving east-northeast at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of only 25 mph.

Meanwhile, flood watches remain in effect across portions of New York and southern New England, the NHC stated.
