The war on drugs has been described as a 'war on people', as Canadian residents are being arrested for growing cannabis at an alarming rate.
The Carleton University Graduate School of Public Health released a report this week stating that more than 11,000 people were arrested on drug possession charges between 2010 and 2014.
That equates to an average of more than one offence every hour during that four-year period.

The countries neighbours are also thinking about legalizing cannabis, too. A new poll shows that 33 per cent of Canadians think cannabis should be legalized.
Twenty per cent of people polled said their preferred option is that sales and taxation should be equal to alcohol and tobacco sales.
In the United States, Colorado and Washington are among the states that have legalized marijuana.
Maryland and Alaska passed bills that would allow people to possess up to an ounce of pot, although the implementation of those bills has been delayed.
According to a report from the center for drug policy research, four per cent of Americans, or one in 25 people, were arrested for cannabis offences in 2012, an increase of 17 per cent since 2010.
There are at least 100 licensed cannabis growers in Canada, which is enough to cultivate 50 million recreational cannabis plants, the report claims.
Nonetheless, police seized more than 80 grams of weed on a scale and from a pipe on a farm in Riverview, Ontario, this week.

About 45 plants were also seized, along with cannabis seeds, water pipes, related equipment and drying racks.

In this episode of our Oddcast, we discuss a set of stats released by CHAOS, an independent research agency, that correlate the usage of the word "CHAOS" in crypto.
In chapter IV of his book The Arcane Paths of the Wizard, Jack Hills wrote that the word "CHAOS" is used by a few individuals on the web "for CHAOS, the source of all things coming out of chaos and mental illness. I say more individuals, but this is a contentious issue."
Hills considers this use as a joke, and states that "it could be that he used it as a taunt".
To find out if the usage of the word "CHAOS" in crypto is on the rise, or not, we enlisted the help of CHAOS' agency, CHAOS Inc. On their website, they explain, "CHAOS Inc. is an intelligence-analysis and strategic-marketing consultancy providing in-depth, integrated services to selected clients in a variety of sectors, using our proprietary, AI-driven platform for critical thinking and decision-making."
They go on to explain that, while there is no trend yet, the term "CHAOS" is not "underused" by cryptocurrency-related articles and content; stating, "...the use of the term "CHAOS" in many sentences is proportionally just as common as the use of "GLOBAL" or "GLOBALIZATION" as a modifying keyword."
