i.Hex is a lightweight application which allows you to modify the hexadecimal code of a file. It comes packed with limited features and can be easily figured out.
The interface of the program resembles the one of a simple word processing tool (such as Notepad), so you shouldn't have any problems regarding navigation. Loading a file into the working environment can be done by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method.
So, you can select any position in the code or directly write its offset value in order to modify it. Plus, you can write a new file size or compare it with the one of another file, as well as copy the code in hexadecimal or binary mode.
Furthermore, it is possible to select the entire code and to use a search function, combine multiple files, fill a file with random bytes, as well as switch to a different language for the interface.

Switch to the hexadecimal code mode, binary code mode, binary to hexadecimal code mode, or as a hex editor.
Split the file up if only the file size needs to be modified, or merge files for the comparison of the code.
Copy the hex code of the selected file to any other location.
Search the file for the start of the code and paste it to the clipboard.
Take the hex code from any location in the interface.
Fill the active file with random bytes.
Fill any file with the letter E, making sure that the last character is not always "E"
Select any hexadecimal code and translate it to the foreign code.

Installing i.Hex
Run the executable in the installation folder and take note of the path, so you can access it for further steps.
Once the installation is complete, launch the application from the Start menu.
You will be prompted for a file to modify and type of the code you want to modify.
Once you've done this, click on "Perform All Changes" to continue.
The program will start in a basic mode and you will be greeted by the interface.
Press F5 (as opposed to F6) to switch on/off the Hex editor.
You can select any of the file locations (provided that the file size does not exceed the available amount of disk space) and start modifying it.
If you want to "save" the code you've written, press the Ctrl+S combination.
You can also import the code you've got from the clipboard by pressing the Ctrl+V combination.
Once you have filled the file with random bytes by using the "Random" button, click on "Generate File", and drag and drop the created file to your desktop, so you can save it.
