“We need a solution that’s fair to taxpayers and also to those who serve in the federal workforce,” he said at a news conference. “I hope that our members of Congress, both in the House and the Senate, will have the courage to listen to the American people, the important concerns of their constituents and get a deal done.”
McConnell said that during the debate over the White House-backed bill Monday night he had offered to sit down with Obama to discuss a broader package that would avert the crisis.
