The program consists of the following components:
SAMP Hub Implementation: The JSAMP Free Download hub is a set of classes implementing SAMP capability by using Java threads. The hub is a very simple and fast implementation. It's purpose is to allow any Java applications to be part of a SAMP network. The hub is the only required part of the SAMP ecosystem; it's not intended to be an SAMP client or an SAMP server.

Application Communication: The hub provides methods to create a new application and to notify the hub that the application has been started. To terminate an application, the hub must be notified through a stop signal. The stop signal is sent once before and once after the application has stopped. The server has two parts. It contains the SAMP hub implementation and an independent data generator. If you use it to test third-party applications, you will need to generate your own data.
Data generated by the data generator is sent to the SAMP hub via the data queue (of size 65536 bytes) of the server. There are two main operations performed on the data generated by the data generator. The first operation is generating JPEG2000 coefficients. The second operation is appending the JPEG 2000 header. To perform this operations we need the JPEG 2000 filter bank (of size 65536 bytes) and the quantization parameter.
The first operation consists in writing all the pixels of a given sub-band to the data queue. To do this we need a pointer to the quantization parameter (which is computed using the value of the SAMP_ZERO_SUB_BAND setting in the SAMP hub configuration file). The second operation consists in converting a given sub-band to a set of JPEG 2000 coefficients (by calling the InitializeQuant( ) method of the Filter bank class).
In order to test if the data queue is full or empty and to ensure that the data generated by the data generator is properly appended to the data queue, we provide a very fast API that performs operations like getting the number of bytes currently available in the data queue, getting a pointer to the quantization parameter used to generate the coefficients and returning whether the pointer is pointing to the data queue or not.
The client applications have no backend code. The applications are split into two groups, the GUI applications and the client application applications.
The GUI applications are the test GUI included in the package. If you use them you will have to run the client application to check the user interface.
