ATSEND is a simple VBScript application that allows you to send commands to Hayes compatible modems, and to read back the results.
ATSEND relies on the Windows Script Host, and, like any Windows script, requires a Windows Script Host interpreter to execute, and run.
ATSEND is made primarily for batch-mode users who are experienced with DOS and the Command prompt, and don't want to deal with COM ports or direct communications with their modems.
ATSEND contains two scripts, one that allows the user to enter commands to a modem, and another that allows the user to read the results of the execution of these commands.
The user is presented with four simple options from which to choose. These are:
* Command  - the name of the script to call.
* Commands - all available commands that can be used against your modem. For example, "AT+CGA" dials a city-wide GUTMODEM.
* Settings - the settings from the DOS environment. These may include the COMBASE (default COM port), COMIRQ (interrupt for the modem), and other settings that apply to this particular modem and DOS session.
* Examples - a listing of sample calls to make from ATSEND and sample commands that could be used to test various features of your modem.
The ATSEND help system should come in very handy for any user, and provides a handy reference about AT commands in general.
ATSEND can be run from DOS under Windows, or from an external DOS shell.
ATSEND, when running from the DOS window under Windows, is a DOS window with ATSEND running within it, using the DOS environment.
When ATSEND is running under DOS, the COMIN and COMOUT ports remain open. There is no need to worry about COMIN/OUT ports being handled by the graphics interface in Windows.
Users of the real ATSEND utility may be concerned about the security of their settings in DOS, because ATSEND logs the settings to the console screen. This is handled for you automatically in the ATSEND window. In addition, ATSEND plays an error routine in case the COMBOOT key is hit so that if the communication is lost, the user will be able to reconnect.
ATSEND scripts have access to the commands embedded in your Hayes compatible modem, and the normal Windows environment. In addition, ATSEND has access to the number of the COM port it is connected to, plus
