This plugin is based on Pultec formula which is used to compress digital audio signals. This produces a minimal amount of headroom, keeping the signal near the threshold level without clipping. The filter operates in both RMS and Peak sensing modes and provides ratio capability (soft/hard limiter) for RMS. There is also a control for soft knee to smooth out narrow band high frequency response.
Features:
Ratio:
The ratio ranges from 1 to 6, with a 6 being the hardest limiter and a 1 being the softest.
Peak Sensing:
Where the ratio is set to 0 the plugin operates as a peak limiter, with the ratio corresponding to the slope of the knee where the clipped signal level becomes flat. Where ratio is set to 1 the plugin will operate as a soft limiter where the ratio is set to 0 the plugin will operate as a peak limiter.
Soft Knee:
Soft knee used to reduce narrow band response and keep the signal near the threshold.
RMS Detection:
Option to choose between RMS or Peak detection algorithm.
Channels:
Individually selectable for each channel, frequency, or combination thereof.
Effect Threshold:
Individually selectable for each channel, frequency or combination thereof.
Stop:
Toggle stop when the threshold has been reached.
MIDI Route:
Individually selectable for each channel, frequency or combination thereof.
