EYFS
There was lots of love to go around in EYFS, as children started the week with Valentine’s Day celebrations. Children made beautiful Valentine’s Day cards for their family, sent Valentine’s messages to their friends and adults in class which were delivered by the Student Council. Children were also happy as they received chocolates delivered by the Student Council, as well as from adults in class, and were eager to eat the chocolates meant go with the cards they made. 
This week EYFS learned the “Bb” sound in phonics. We have also been writing simple sentences about Elmer the elephant, first saying our sentences, then counting out the words on our fingers and finally trying to sound out and spell words using our phonics when recording our sentences. To help us spell, we continue to use our Phonic/ High Frequency word mats if we cannot spell any words. Both Kian and Iosif brought in toy dogs for Show and Tell, and they enjoyed demonstrating and explaining how to switch their battery operated toys on and off, as well as choosing their friends to have turns playing with their toys, holding/cuddling their toy and then describing how they feel. In Numeracy, we continue comparing amounts, using the vocabulary more, less and the same. Children have used concrete objects and interactive whiteboard activities when comparing amounts.  
In our topic ‘Winter Wonderland’ we have been learning about the Winter Olympics, focusing on the Winter Olympics taking place in Beijing at the moment. Most children supported their home countries and wanted their country to win the most medals. They have watched videos of Eileen Gu who has won Olympic Gold for China during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and learning about some of the Winter Olympic sport. They also enjoyed listening to the story of ‘Snowman Paul at the Winter Olympics’. 
RUSSIAN (Native). On Thursday EYFS kids made a fantastic cards with warm wishes for their fathers. Congratulations on the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day!
