The Decoded Message Encryption Algorithm (DMSA) is a cryptographic standard for encrypting messages in such a way that any message can be recovered without knowledge of the original data. DMSA is designed to be a replacement for current methods such as DES (Encryption Standard) and Triple DES.
Writing the program helped me realize how easy it is to encrypt and decrypt text to text. I originally wrote the program with the help of some online tutorials but it proved to be very difficult to understand. So I decided that it would be easier to write the code myself.
I wrote the program from scratch with the help of a little online research in order to understand how DMSA works. Since the standard was first proposed by the NSA in 1995, I found the actual reference at the National Cryptologic Museum.
Working with true random numbers is a little tricky since the program can be solved by bruteforcing. In order to generate truly random data, I used a combination of two methods. The first is a pseudorandom number generator and the second is based on the feedback of the UI:
The application uses a Javascript library called PDF.js. It allows the user to interact with PDF files in the browser. To my knowledge, no other application allows this feature. In this case, I used a small web page to perform the tasks it was expected to do.
A couple of minor issues were found in the application, but nothing that would halt the operation of the program or limit its use. I have uploaded the source code, so any comments and suggestions are welcomed.
I had made a similar program a few years ago, but this one is much easier to use and handles.pdf files the same as.txt files
Now you can just type in the text you want to encrypt, and it will encrypt it and save it as a.txt file. (Do remember that the string you type in has to be at least 6 chars, otherwise it will save an empty file)
When you type in the string you want the encrypted text to be, a new.txt file will be created with an encrypted string.
And the only thing that changes to the encrypted files are the extension, since it can also handle
