Macon-Bibb Commission 11/8/2022
Renovations and the runway extension at Middle Georgia Regional Airport took the bulk of $36 million in capital improvement spending approved by Macon-Bibb County Commissioners in their committee meeting Tuesday. Commissioners also allocated the last $2.1 million in the first tranche of American Rescue Plan funds and learned $22 million remains in that federal funding. The Macon Mall amphitheater project is on track for completion in about a year now that final designs have been approved. Commissioners got an hourlong update on the project to build a 10,000 capacity facility at Macon Mall. They allocated $111,000 in Community Development Block Grants, approved data collection of crash data to improve pedestrian safety, endorsed a pollinator garden and tree in tribute to Queen Elizabeth at Amerson River Park. All items approved will be on next Tuesday's consent agenda for final consideration. These Twitter highlights summarize presentations and meeting comments.
