3. Run the frontend.exe.
4. If you want to use the GUI mode, go to the directory in which you saved the frontend, and click on "GUI".
5. If you want to use the console mode, type "mad" in the console and press Enter.
6. You can choose the input file and output file.

MAD Frontend
MAD frontend is a small, handy tool designed to offer users a GUI for the MAD console application. You can use this tool to decode the MP3 files to wave files when you want to make a normal audio CD from your MP3s. It is designed to be simple and intuitive to use, and to make reasonable use of the environment provided by the sound device (like a sound card or synthesizer). Note that unlike other tools, there is no soft-encoding of the files, simply because the sound device is not capable of doing that. You will need to do soft-encoding yourself. The reference output is stereo: on the left channel is the PCM data from the original file, on the right channel is the newly added PCM data from the wave file. There are also several possible input methods available: - MP3 input - compressed flac input - uncompressed wav input - GSM input - 3GPP input

Version 1.0.0:
This is the first official release. A lot of work has gone into this software since 1.0.1, the previous version I have had made for Gizmodo.com (a lot of the software now works with very new sound devices). One of the new features is the capability to use the sound device as a speaker, using its line-in port to play back the decoded files. This feature works fine for line-in sources, like a microphone or an internet radio stream, but may crash if the sound device is not plugged to a DAC. While this is not very often, it is easy to control which inputs it will use by holding down the ALT key and switching between them. This feature is not yet completely finished: at the moment it can not yet be used when making CD's or importing MP3s from the beginning. The USB Device Manager will not show the line-in port if the sound device is not connected to a DAC. Also, a lot of the multimedia audio controls are not yet implemented, as well as the debugging outputs (very useful for when you want to test out what the console tool's outputs do).
There are also some noticeable differences compared to the previous version: - the graphical interface is much more in-depth. This is partly because I had to do several things with the interface.
