Welcome to the EIS Newsletter - 2024/25 - Issue No. 11!

I am, for the vast majority of my time at this school, very proud of the conduct and achievements of our students. However, this week may be up there as one of the proudest I have felt.

Let's start with this Friday, when we handed out the exam certificates during our official Certificate Award Ceremony for our older students because we are extremely proud of their achievements. The results this year were very impressive with the vast majority achieving above predicted grades. As a school, you cannot ask for much more than that. As usual, we had parents attend the ceremony and it is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere because we all want the students to succeed and we all celebrate their achievments. I must say, the cake was wonderful as well! Congratulations to the students, Secondary teachers and, of course, to Mr. Reddy whom worked extremely hard for those results.

Also, we had Y5/Y6 winning a football tournament against a neighbouring Russian state school - on the surface it is just a game of football, but when you dig deeper it is a lot more than that. Let us start with the result, we beat a school 4 - 0 (!) despite them having around 500 students to choose from. This was not expected! I had prepped them for being resilient in the face of defeat and to maintain etiquette; however, thankfully, the opposite happened. They conducted themselves with decorum, showed us all what they are capable of and represented the school with distinction. The boys will be awarded special certificates and will be handed them in assembly next week. Well done, lads!

It was also International Men's Day this week and this is the first time we have celebrated the event as a school. For a variety of reasons our male population was not getting the attention they deserved and so we put it right. The girls and ladies of EIS stepped up and made the day feel very special for us. It is amazing what taking the time out makes you feel. This includes myself. Of course, we will be doing the same for the female contingent for their day. But, for now, please take the time to appreciate your sons, husbands, fathers, grandfathers, uncles, cousins and nephews. I am sure you do, and all the good honest men out there who work hard to make the world a better place.
