Dear all,

Welcome to the EIS Newsletter, Issue No. 11!

This week has been our Parent Teacher Meetings week and it has been great to meet new parents and reconnect with others that I have known over the years. I hope the feedback has been useful and both students and parents know exactly what needs to be accomplished to ensure further success moving forward. This first round is very much target-based, as is the second round in the spring, before final feedback in the summer. The autumn term report due out 14th December will cover what has been discussed this week so, hopefully, there should be no surprises. Once again, thank you for your support and attendance.

Once again, I have had the pleasure of observing some more excellent lessons this week. I got to see Ms. Larisa teaching Chemistry to Y12, some great experiments on display and it was great to see the cohort looking like real scientists with their protective gloves and eyewear. I was in to observe Ms. Deidre teach her Y2 class an English lesson based on expanded noun phrases. I must say, the lesson was bordering on perfect - very impressive, indeed. Last but not least, I watched Ms. Melissa undertake comprehension work with three Y7 students on hyperinflation. I was glad to bear witness to some outstanding answers throughout the literacy session.

Some well-deserved Headteacher Awards went out this week:

Alvi and Areeba in Year 2 for amazing reading
Si Woo Year 4 for being honest and generous for finding 500 rubles outside the school door and handing it in
Karim Y11 for being a role model inside of the classroom as well as outside of it
Vika Y3 for making an amazing hat for me! So impressed with the outcome and quality. What skills!

Finally, a big shout out to Karim Y11 for winning the gold medal at a recent CrossFit tournament in Egypt, Cairo. Karim was the only Russian competitor to pick up a medal and it was the best one possible. I think it is fair to say we can see why Karim made the EIS Hall of Fame. I also would like to expand upon Vika Y3 making me a winter hat. Vika mentioned she learnt how to knit garments from a young age and asked if I would like a hat. Of course, I said yes and mentioned three colours, but I did not take it seriously; that is, until she turned up with the hat I am wearing in the photo! What a legend!
