EYFS
EYFS had lots of fun during the snowman building competition last Friday. Even though they were not involved in building the snowmen, most were just happy playing in the snow, while others happily carried snow over, and looked for twig arms and pebble eyes/teeth. This week there has been lots of fun Christmas activities organised by the School Council; from gingerbread decorating, board games, dressing up in Christmas colours to karaoke. 
During Phonics this week we learned the “Uu” sound, learning how to form the letter ‘Uu’, singing the ‘u, u up go umbrellas’ song and finding things that begin with ‘Uu’. Many Reception children have begun to use their phonics to spell and write simple words, while Nursery children have improved their pencil grip and letter formation as they begin to write either the initial letter of their name or their full name with support. In Numeracy, we have continued looking at measures and measuring, focusing on time this week. We have played the game ‘What is the time Mr Wolf’, looked at what we do during different times of the day and are learning to tell time to the hour using the words ‘o clock’. During topic we focused on the celebration of Christmas, listening to the Nativity story, while practicing our Christmas songs for the whole school Christmas production. During our practice times in class, EYFS sang in loud, clear voices, using their maracas at the right time while trying to follow a rhythm. They have also enjoyed all the Christmas art and craft activities done this week. While outdoors, children were fascinated with the vehicles clearing the snow on the roads and kept running alongside the fence, watching the graders at work. They are also experts at shoveling snow to make whatever their imagination comes up with. Faina and Petra have in the meanwhile becoming expert personalized jewellery makers, making beautiful paper rings and bracelets to fit both adults and children.

MUSIC. EYFS were exploring different timbres of percussion instruments. They accompanied the "Sleigh Ride" with maracas and shakers learning to take solos! The students sang some new action songs and played musical games.
