Moana is a Disney animated musical fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Walt Disney Pictures' Kenneth Branagh serves as the film's director, while Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg serve as the film's co-directors. The story follows a young girl named Moana who discovers that her island home, the island of Motunui, is in danger. The island is about to be swallowed by an erupting volcano, and she sets out to save her people by finding the demigod Maui and acquiring the nautical superpower of the legendary demigod Te Fiti. At the 89th Academy Awards, Moana received nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "How Far I'll Go", as well as two Technical Achievement Awards for its music and underwater photography.
