Update 9:45 p.m. EDT May 26: Cecilia Nelms, the ex-wife of Sam Cassidy, told The Associated Press that the suspected gunman had a bad temper and would tell her that he wanted to kill people at work.

“I never believed him, and it never happened,” Nelms, of Santa Cruz, told the AP. “Until now.”

Nelms, who said she was married to Cassidy for 10 years until he filed for divorce in 2005, added that Cassidy would come home “wound up and angry” over what happened at work. As he talked about it, “he would get more mad.”

“He could dwell on things,” Nelms told the AP. She added that she had not been in contact with her ex-husband for 13 years.
