Whats on this page What the browser extension does and doesnt do Support Whats next? UTS is asking students to consent to the supply of their personal information to ProctorU prior to creating an account with them. This is so students have the chance to be fully informed about the ProctorU process rather than just asking students to sign up. Log in to MyStudentAdmin to consent before you create a ProctorU account. Download or update Google Chrome or Firefox In order to sit your online invigilated exam, youll first need to download the ProctorU browser extension for Firefox or Google Chrome. If you dont have either of these browsers or if you need to update your browser to the latest version, you can do so here: Download or update Google Chrome Browser Download or update Firefox Browser If youre sitting your exam from China, you may need to use Firefox as your browser. Download the ProctorU browser extension for Firefox Open the latest version of the Firefox browser – you must be using Firefox to successfully download the Firefox browser extension. Download the ProctorU browser extension here and click Download Now. Youll get a pop-up asking if you want to continue. Select continue to installation. Once the installation is complete (it will take just a few seconds), youll get a pop-up asking to confirm if you want to add this browser extension to Firefox. Select Add. Finally, youll get a pop-up letting you know that it has been added and the ProctorU icon (a blue owl) will appear at the top of your browser. Click Okay, got it to finish the installation. This is all you need to do to install the ProctorU browser extension. At this point, the extension is installed and working correctly. You dont need to activate it before your exam. The exam software will detect that it is installed and run it automatically when you begin your exam on the day, or when you sit your practice exam. When you are not using the extension, right click on the ProctorU icon and select Manage Extension. Here, you can toggle the extension on and off. You should disable it whenever you are not using it. Click Manage Extension to turn it back on again when you need to use it for your exam or for a practice exam. After your exam, right click on the ProctorU icon and select Remove Extension to delete the browser extension. Download the ProctorU browser extension for Google Chrome Click Add to Chrome in the top right corner Youll get a pop-up telling you what this extension can do. Click Add extension to continue. Once the download is complete, youll get another pop-up confirming that the extension is installed and active. Therell be a ProctorU icon (a blue owl) to the right of the URL bar at the top of your browser window. This is all you need to do to install the ProctorU browser extension. At this point, the extension is installed and working correctly. You dont need to activate it before your exam. The exam software will detect that it is installed and run it automatically when you begin your exam on the day, or when you sit your practice exam. At any time, you can right click on the ProctorU icon and select Manage extensions to turn the browser extension on or off. You should turn the extension off whenever you are not using it. When your exams are over, you can remove the browser extension by right clicking on the ProctorU icon and selecting Remove from Chrome. Remove the ProctorU browser extension When youre finished with your invigilated exams, please remove the ProctorU browser extension. For Google Chrome, you can remove the extension by right clicking on the ProctorU extension icon (blue owl) next to your browser URL bar and selecting Remove from Chrome. For Firefox, you can remove the extension by right clicking on the ProctorU extension icon (blue owl) next to your browser URL bar and selecting Remove extension. What the browser extension does and doesnt do What does the browser extension do? The browser extension ensures you remain on permitted pages or sites for the duration of your exams. It also: might restrict the use of other webpages during the exam send you a notification during the exam communicate with cooperating systems or websites (like Canvas) to ensure all the necessary conditions are set for an optimal exam experience prevents the use of copy and paste during the exam which protects academic integrity detects your location – knowing if youre sitting your exam in Australia or in China can help resolve any technical issues faster captures the content of your screen, your webcam, and microphone, to monitor your exam progress and protect academic integrity. The browser extension does not: monitor your screen at any time other than during your exam sell or share your personal information with a third party access your personal data not required for the exam open files or folders already on your computer copy or change any of your data Collect any keystroke biometric data Support Exam type To confirm what type of exam you have, please refer to your timetable on MyStudentAdmin. Your subject coordinator will be able to tell you more about your exam, like what materials you can use during your exam and if you can use blank paper. This will vary subject to subject.
