9 for the first course, i have a problem with the following question.
A 600k volt transformer has a resistor of 1meg resistor in parallel. The resistor has a power of 0.12kw. the power in the transformer is 10kw. what is the resistance of the resistor at the 945 volt terminal
solution in the book says it is 6.15m. i get it as 25m. what is my mistake?
also, can somebody please help me in determining the power of a 1meg resistor in the parallel circuit. i have the answer as 1/25m of 0.1kwhr. that is what the book says too but how would i do that?

However, looking at the question, the solution and the question again, I'm still confused.
What is the point of having the parallel resistor? Why is it there, since the power it's going to dissipate is going to be already dissipated in the 10kW?
I would say that it was only a typographical error. I could not find any explanation, either.

All you have to do is figure out the final voltage. In this case, the voltage is 945.
Then you have to multiply by the internal resistance of the transformer. You have the internal resistance already, which is the 1 meg resistor.
Once you have that voltage, you then multiply by the power you already know how to find.
For the 600kV transformer, you're looking for 2.5W.
In your case, that means that you have to multiply by 2.5, which is 5.
This gives you the voltage you need to find.
Then, you find the internal resistance. This is the 1 meg resistor.
Then you multiply the voltage by the internal resistance 3125841983
