We are so proud of our English in Early Years!
Early Years class engaged in a wonderful story this week called ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell. Our favourite owl was clearly the smallest owl called Bill who wanted his mummy. We learned many skills through the story including size, shape, opposites, number and some interesting facts about owls. We learned new vocabulary including words like brave, dark, forest, hunting and swooped. We consolidated our knowledge on emotions with words like sad, happy, worried and scared. We were able to demonstrate this new learned vocabulary in role-play situations.
Reception were given a series of 9 pictures which they had to cut out and arrange in the correct story sequence. Nursery were given the opportunity to mould one of the chosen owls from the story out of salt dough. It was a very simple but effective activity using the circle shape.
Both Nursey and Reception were given the opportunity to present their activities to the class. We were able to recount the story of ‘The Owl Babies in simple beautiful English. It was so impressive that each one of us got a house point. Our teacher was so proud!
We all had great fun at our Winter bazaar! We are now looking forward to our Winter concert!
