The Partitioning Tool allows you to quickly change parts and views in one operation. The tool can be operated from both the drawing and engineering environment. Use the Partitioning Tool to break down drawing elements (elements can be in any presentation), and turn them into entities that can be moved, changed, rotated and deleted.
Partitioning properties can also be managed within the Partitioning Tool. Once a partition has been created, you can move, rotate and resize it. To apply the property changes to the partition, the changes must first be merged to the original partition. This process can be performed in the following ways: by using the Merge Changes command from the Partitioning Tool, by dragging the original partition, or by moving the original partition and clicking and dragging within the boundaries of the partition.
The Partitioning Tool can be used to:
Change the number of parts in the drawing.
Create "detail-free" view geometry that can be used to create new views for different views.
Split large elements into smaller entities that can be selected and moved, rotated and changed individually.
Make more views than required to allow for better modeling in various views of the drawing.
Create a level of decomposition that is only compatible with the tool and that you can manage.
Update the Partitioning Tool to provide additional features.

Unified Modelling Environment (UME) or Modeling Environment (ME)
The Partitioning Tool is available in both the Unified Modelling Environment (UME) and the Modeling Environment (ME). In UME, the Partitioning Tool is available from the Partitioning Panel. In ME, the Partitioning Tool is available from the Partitioning Screen, which is the default tool for changing the number of parts in a drawing. The Partitioning Tool can be used in both environments.

Partitioning Tool - This is the partitioning tool for creating, moving and changing partitions in the modeling environment.
Partition - The button to create a partition.
Merge - The button to merge two partitions.
Merge Result - Shows the result of the merge operation when two partitions have been merged.
