Console Highlighter Torrent Download can print color ANSI VT100 Control Sequences to the Windows Command Prompt (CMD). The application is written entirely in assembly language, and thus native to the x86 machine architecture. Only a small subset of ANSI VT100 Control Sequences are supported, which is enough for the most common line editors such as the standard Windows CMD or the Midnight Commander (mc), as well as the Windows PowerShell console.
Console Highlighter is actually a console application that runs as a background process at the system startup, which means the input and output stream is redirected to the console by the system. This allows for real-time highlighting of CMD output without interfering with the user's typing in the console.
Console Highlighter allows for a number of customizations of the ANSI VT100 Control Sequences, such as a format string that can be used to specify (color) information like the field name, type, etc. The sequences are interpreted based on the current ANSI VT100 Color, to be specific:
- All ANSI VT100 Control Sequences that are not currently used by the Console Highlighter are mapped to the Default Color.
- All ANSI VT100 Control Sequences that are currently used by the Console Highlighter are mapped to the current ANSI VT100 Color.
