Intro
A Chromebook is essentially a browsing device with very limited storage on the device itself. This is not to be confused with a laptop, which has its own hard drive. Chromebooks are designed to be used with cloud services such as MS OneDrive or Google Drive (for storage) and MS Office 365 online (through Glow). Some Chromebooks have a touch-sensitive screen and can be used like a tablet.
For educational Chromebooks in Angus Scotland, we use the Dell Chromebook 3100s (not touch sensitive). These come with 2 x USB 3.1 slots, 2 x USB C ports, a Headset/ mic combo jack and a Wedge lock slot (not used). To connect an additional monitor, for a larger display, you will need to use a USB C to HDMI adapter in one of the USB C ports.
On educational devices, the user is prevented from accessing the app store.
It is really important to keep the battery regularly charged up. If the device is going to  inactive for long periods, follow the long-term shut down procedures in this Wakelet.
