What a treat to be here today. It's a truly great experience to see how the things we have done at the Centre for Applied Technology in Water Sensitive Design here in Berlin are being used by so many around the world, whether they're participants, staff, students, managers, consultants or contractors. I look forward to seeing how this technology has been adopted - in the Netherlands, Poland, France, New Zealand, Israel, the United Kingdom, the United States, China and all over the world.
I'd like to spend a few minutes in particular reflecting on the success of the centre. And just for the record, what I'm going to talk about applies to the centre in general, but I've picked one or two examples that can be directly linked to this programme.
The first example is the adoption of DAP4S - the Decompositional Analysis of Pressure Systems - in the Netherlands and Poland. The idea for this approach, which addresses the fact that most of the developing countries are not yet using well understood scientific approaches to'stress failure' analysis, came out of a discussion with the German Engineers Society (GEV), who had sent a six-man team to the centre to see how we used pressure simulation and the Decompositional Analysis approach in workshops they held with development projects. Their feedback was that they would like more of this, so we agreed to approach a few of their colleagues, the Polish Engineers Society (SUG) and the Dutch Engineers Society (SVG), and we're already working with them.
The second example is the adoption of the Arrays and Elements approach to project management. In this case, it came out of a discussion with our colleagues in Hyderabad, India, who started expressing their frustration with the fact that the way they were working (by using a traditional Project Management Office computer system) was not working well enough for them to perform their jobs. And so we asked around the centre if there was another way to do this, and we heard that many people were using a project management approach based on using a computer to manage the actual project, and to use a separate computer to manage

The cell cycle-related nuclear DNA content was analyzed in surgical specimens of 34 adenocarcinomas of the pancreas. A simple technique based on direct microscopic examination of Feulgen-stained tissue sections was used. DNA diploidy was detected in 11 cases (32%). DNA hyperploidy was noted in 11 tumors, 5 of which were DNA-diploid. The 11 cases in which only polyploidy was present represented the higher ploidy level. This ploidy profile differs from that of other solid tumors. No correlation was found between the DNA ploidy pattern and the DNA content of neoplastic cells, histologic type of the tumor, degree of cell differentiation, and stage of disease. DNA ploidy and S-phase fraction (SPF) of the tumors were concordant, but lower SPF values were found in tumors with diploid DNA content. An inverse relationship was also found between the degree of cell differentiation and SPF in pancreatic cancer. We conclude that DNA image analysis may be a useful technique for the study of cell-cycle-related DNA parameters in pancreatic adenocarcinoma.Q:
