When the project was first planned, the usual glass clock was taken from the list of clock 3D available in the free version of GIMP. Because it wasn't available as a resource in GNUstep, it was modified until we could use it.
The source is a GIST, and although it worked fine in GNUstep and Tascam, there was some more work to be done. C4D and Proteus were used to clean up the shapes and open the glass for the first time. But we didn't like the result because there was too much noise, so we experimented with various kinds of noise reduction.
Eventually, we reached the level of noise reduction we were happy with, and decided on something quite simple - as close to the original as we could get. At that point, C4D and GIMP were taken to desaturate the original image. The result should be really close to the original.
We had a problem when we were trying to get the image to look right in a GNUstep window - the colors weren't right, but the colors were much better if you ran the image in Tascam.
