EIS Football Team
This Sunday some of EIS’s students and staff travelled to Sokolniki to participate in a football competition between both international and local Russian schools. Everybody involved from EIS had been preparing for the tournament by attending weekly training sessions for the last month and so everybody were raring to go. 
As we arrived at the venue, the weather was not kind and the rain poured heavily, forcing the organisers to move the competition indoors. It was shortly announced that students would play four matches, followed by a third place play off and a final, respectively. The teachers would play three matches and also a play-off for third place and a final, depending on final standings. 
EIS students played extremely well in all their matches, especially considering it was their first time of playing together. They were comprised of a mixed team ranging from Year 8 to Year 12. One particular highlight was a 2-1 victory over BIS. Overall, students finished in fourth place and should be very proud of their efforts. 
In similar fashion to the students, the teachers’ team lacked experience of playing together but did manage to create chances and score goals. Mr Dalgish in attack was a constant goal threat and bagged a memorable brace against the host school in the third match. Overall the teachers finished in fourth place after narrowly losing to a local Russian team, but yet again the teachers should be proud of their commitment and efforts. 
Overall, it was a great day out for EIS teachers, students and the parents who came to watch. The support from everybody who travelled to Sokolniki was brilliant and we very much look forward to participating in future tournaments.
