YEAR 1
This week in English, we have been looking at another type of recount, a postcard. We answered questions about a postcard we read. Then we thought of the different places we could send a postcard from and what we could do in these places and wrote sentences to describe this. 
In Maths, we have been revising o'clock and half past times. Some of us were even introduced to quarter past times. We have revised adding and subtracting 1-digit numbers by looking for patterns. We also recapped number bonds to 10 and 20 and finding change using these bonds. 
In Science we have been looking at trees. We have learned the terms 'evergreen' for trees that are green all year round and 'deciduous' for trees that lose their leaves in the autumn. We went out into the school grounds to identify some trees. We drew our favourite tree that we saw and made a bark rubbing. We then described the tree and its roots and bark. 
We have also been busy with music rehearsals in preparation for our school concert next Wednesday and on Friday we took part in EIS Sport's Day. 
RUSSIAN (Non-Native). Y1 students practiced each letter- name and sounds in Russian. They also had several online activities that are helpful for building letter recognition fluency and played alphabet games. 
RUSSIAN (Native). Y1 students read and discussed Irina Tokmakova's poem «Ходит солнышко по кругу». We found ourselves in a wonderful forest and met many animals, birds and insects. After this literary journey, we wrote down their names and worked on syllables and stress. Thanks for the great work!
