Statement from the Revolutionary Sex-Gender Diverse Alliance (ASGDRe) in the face of imperialist interference

Caracas, January 27, 2019

Given the sequence of recent events suffered by the people of Venezuela, crystallized in the expressions of brutal interference in our internal affairs of Donald Trump and the unconstitutional self-proclamation as interim president of the deputy Juan Guaidó, the Revolutionary Sex-Gender Diverse Alliance (ASGDRe) establish firm position in favor of the right to self-determination of our people, melting pot of all the collectives and identities that we inhabit in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

We reject the kidnapping by the hegemonic powers of the slogans that have historically been the flag of the oppressed to favor their petty economic and geopolitical interests; This abduction has grotesque expressions in phrases like "We are all Diana" in the mouth of the president of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, when he uses it as an instrument to incite xenophobia against Venezuelans residing in his country, or in the speech made in favor of the Venezuelan immigrants by spokesperson of the government of the USA when in their border with Mexico die hundreds of immigrants without any support of their government.

We also reject the colonial discourse that describes us as savage handicapped, unable to solve their own problems, to which we must bring peace on ships and with bombs. Consequently, we demand that assets belonging to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that are sequestrated by European and North American banks be returned, above all because of the danger of financing our own destruction (it weighs as a threat its possible use for the payment of arms and mercenaries manufactured by the military-industrial complex of the NATO countries, as happened in the invasion of Libya).

We call the fraternal peoples, social classes and collectives identified with our struggles to show solidarity and express themselves in the face of the outrage we suffer. This solidarity and its expressions could add to the worldwide awareness of the terrible precedent felt by the intervention on Venezuela, after the carried out interventions on Iraq, Libya and Syria. The dramatic sequence of interventions reveals a terrifying pattern that could spread and become naturalized in the future over other peoples and territories. We are calling for solidarity, rather than with a government or political party, with a people that, after an intervention of such caliber, would be even more vulnerable to the voracious advance of neoliberal and globalized capitalism.

This historical moment is a relevant turning point for all the political factors that coexist in Venezuela interested in the preservation of minimum conditions of independence and sovereignty over our territories. It is time to become aware of the sensitivity of the situation and the urgent need to act jointly in the face of the threat to our sovereignty. The poorest and most oppressed of us must draw our own horizons and fight our own battles so as not to serve as cannon fodder for the interests of others.

We ask the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, led by Nicolás Maduro Moros, to radicalize the processes of true empowerment of the grassroots and not to delay further the advance towards a productive economy that surpasses the economic behavior centered on the extraction of oil and our position as a mining enclave in the international division of labor. We understand that the current government is the expression of a multitude of contradictions that are still in the process of being resolved; therefore, we invite the forces and factors within the government and the institutions of the country, and interested in saving with dignity the current impasse for the motherland, to finally close ranks with the poor people, the only guarantee for a future, free and sovereign. It is not with the oligarchies or the transnational capital with which the stability of a country is guaranteed, it's only horizon is the accumulation of capital. Consequently, we demand the sincere combat of practices such as corruption, bureaucracy, political patronage, waste, ecocide and police brutality that are privileged instruments by which the order of capitalist plundering over common goods and Nature is imposed. If these measures are not assumed, the nation-state will only be weakened definitively as a trench against the advance of global capital, interested in dissolving any identity and territory.

Finally, we need to remind imperial arrogance that, beyond governments, there are peoples and communities. The level of awareness and training of organized popular sectors has grown exponentially in recent decades and, when necessary, will surely close ranks without hesitation. An unsuspected potential of resistance resides in us, in which we are still deeply anchored to the territory and that, faced with the expelling pressures, we would only have an irreversible march of Struggle, Combat and Victory.
