Dear Parents,
The week’s heavy snow showers didn’t interrupt our school programme and, as usual, this was a very busy week. Please take note of the following announcements:

Visit of Mr Michael Clack, Orbital Education’s Regional Head of Schools:

Mr Michael Clack, Orbital Education’s Regional Head of Schools, visited EIS West this week on a tour of inspection. During his visit, he paid particular attention to the school’s standards of health and safety, and delivery of high quality teaching to facilitate effective learning. He also met with the Student Council to question student leaders about their day-to-day experiences at school, including their views on safety, teacher support and feedback.

Parent Survey:

Thank you to parents who already have completed the online parent survey. The school depends on your feedback in order to take corrective action. Meeting the school community’s expectations is very important to us. This week, you should have received another email, requesting that you complete the survey, which is due to close on Monday, 7th February.

Student Leadership:

In order to widen the school’s leadership programme, Year 1 to 6 classes elected new class representatives to sit on the Student Council. The school places a lot of emphasis on the development of students’ leadership skills, and values the Student Council's contribution towards making EIS West a better school. In addition, new house captains were nominated for Bears, Eagles, Tigers and Wolves. One of their weekly responsibilities is to count and announce house points at assembly.

Trans-Siberian Winter Express Concert:

The videographer returned to school on Tuesday to give Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 5 the opportunity to stage their wonderfully entertaining Winter Concert performances. As announced previously, once the video has been edited, copies of the Winter Concert will be sent to parents.

Skiing Afternoon/Lunchtime Club Activities:

As in past years, Mr Oleg, our Physical Education teacher, is busy organising skiing and snowboarding lessons for pupils from Year 2 to 6. Four sessions at the Lata Track Ski School have been scheduled, giving pupils the opportunity to develop their skiing and/or snowboarding skills. Trainers at the Ski School provide training, depending on each pupil’s ability level: beginner, intermediate or advanced. Kindly complete the return slip, if you would like your child/children to participate.
