EYFS
Children in EYFS have started the second half of the year with a new found confidence from our quieter children who cannot seem to stop talking- having conversations in English with a variety of adults and children around school. They are also really good at playing house in a calmer, more settled manner- setting up tables for meals, watching TV, looking after their babies…They have enjoyed doing some chalk art outside, with drawings of all children in EYFS, flowers, the sky, beautiful sun shining in the sky, a volcano erupting… 
This week EYFS learned the “Ff” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘Ff’, singing ‘My friends and I went to the beach’ song and finding things that begin with ‘Ff’. We have also been practicing reading High Frequency words and using our phonics to build on reading and writing simple words and sentences in Reception. In Numeracy, we are revisiting 2D shapes. Children loved going on a shape hunt around school, creating a tally chart of 2D shapes they found around the school. Their IT skills are getting really good, as they use both the class computer and Ipads to complete animal shape puzzles. 
We have begun our topic ‘Travel and Transport’ this half term. Children enjoyed finding out about different forms of transport as we move from one place to another when travelling. They were able to talk about the different forms of transport they have been on. With the bright sunshiny days, we also learned about shadows and how they are formed when someone or something blocks the light as part of our Science lesson. The girls enjoyed tracing around their shadows outside, while everyone enjoyed making shadows using the projector light and whiteboard.
