Pharmaceuticals have to undergo many tests prior to being approved for use. The tests required before approval include:
Physical tests such as disintegration of tablet, absorbency, hardness, friability, cohesion, moisture and others.
Chemical tests such as content, impurities, stability of a drug, etc.
Pharmacology tests such as bio-availability, solubility, toxicity, and other in-vitro tests (in a test tube) to ensure safety of a drug.
Clinical trials, which are tests in humans to ensure that a drug is safe and effective. These tests may also include further tests for side effects and combinations of drugs.
A drugs use starts by the manufacturer of the drug. An ethical manufacturer will first of all be responsible to give maximum protection to the environment in which the drug is manufactured and to human life. Most manufacturers look for a cheap and safe environment to be manufactured in. A manufacturer can be found that meets the right standards of manufacture for a particular drug.
This raises the need for a regulator to oversee the drug manufacturing and to protect the public from exposure to unsafe drugs.
A government is the center of all power. The government should have all the power necessary to ensure the safety of the population.
A government should be in the business of making laws, but not in the business of enforcing them. The government should regulate the number of people that can use any particular means of transport, but
