Dear Parents,
Despite another short week, classes have had a productive week! Year 2 pupils were also very pleased to welcome Ms Waldron back to school. I would like to bring the following important announcements to your attention:

1. Parent-Teacher Conferences:

A letter has been sent to you, indicating that Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, 17th, Thursday, 19th or Tuesday, 24th May. These conferences are designed to give you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with your child’s class teacher. Teachers will also emphasise the importance of goal-setting to facilitate ongoing improvement. We respectfully request that you support teachers to adhere to the 10-minute time slot in order to ensure that all conferences are accommodated.
As indicated previously, teachers will be flexible, when scheduling conferences, in order to accommodate families who are currently living abroad.

2. Extended Days:

Please be reminded that the making up of school days lost, due to recent additional public holidays, will commence next week, on Monday, 16th May. Extended school days will continue until 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays as follows:

Week 1: Monday 16th and Wednesday 18th May
Week 2: Monday 23rd and Wednesday 25th May
Week 3: Monday 30th May and Wednesday 1st June
Week 4: Monday 6th and Wednesday 8th June
Week 5: Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th June – please note that Monday 13th is a public holiday.
Week 6: Monday 20th and Wednesday 22nd June.

Please note:

Class teachers will indicate to their respective classes what lessons they intend teaching on the extended days, listed above.
School buses will leave school no later than 4 p.m. to ensure that heavy traffic is avoided.
Afternoon clubs on Mondays and Wednesdays will continue operating from 4 to 4: 30 p.m.

3. International Day:

As announced last week, International Day will be held on Friday, 27th May. Classes have chosen the following countries:

Early Years – Japan; Year 1 – Hawaii; Year 2 – Korea;
Year 3 – Italy; Year 4 – Mexico; Year 5 – India; Year 6 – Israel

Teachers will invite parents to assist in organising International Day, designed to highlight the culture, traditions, history and geography of the chosen country.

4. Field Trip:

Year 1, 2 and 3 pupils can look forward to a visit to the Moskvarium with their teachers on Wednesday, 18th May, to learn more about marine life in the oceans of the world.
