This simple InDesign script simply combines two layers by using the Adobe InDesign's Blending Options. The script opens the layout window for your document, opens the first image dialog box and
selects the photo that you want to the shadow layer. The script then closes the dialog box. You can specify which layers and/or clippings to use for the shadow layer and which to use for the normal layer.
You can specify the opacity and layer position for the shadow image.
The script will select and rename the image and place the shadow on the top of the main image.
You can also export the script with links to this article to send it to friends
or use for yourself for some quick and easy prototyping.
Instructions:
1. Double click the script (lastfm.zip) to launch.
2. The script will ask you if you want to create an ID file (this is not mandatory). Click Continue.
3. The script will open the ID file that contains InDesign Script code. This is where the actual automation takes place.
4. You will then need to select the photo that you want to be used for the shadow layer.
5. You will then be asked to select the layers that you want to be used for the shadow and normal images.
6. You will also be asked if you want to select the mask for the shadow layer and the normal layer. Click Continue to proceed.
7. Click "Generate Script" and wait for the script to complete, as the script only takes a minute to run. You can use the settings you created in the dialog box in steps 1 through 4 to modify the shadow
or normal image. If you are satisfied with the settings and click OK, the script will close and will show the preview image. Click Continue to proceed.
8. Click "Export" and then select the folder that you want to use to save the script. A file named lastfm.indd will be created in this folder.
9. You can click the tab "Export Script" in the script and rename it by clicking the icon in the upper right hand corner of the window.
10. The script code will be displayed as follows:

The location of the script is not shown, but will be found in the Downloads folder, in a folder named Scripts, within a folder named lastfm. You can copy the folder into the applications folder

* The user chooses how many times he/she wants to repeat the sandwich effect.
* A dialog box appears with the results of the sandwich. All layers and/or clipping paths associated with the normal portion of the image are made visible.
* The user can then add a layer to this sandwich if desired.
* The sandwich can be saved in Photoshop and/or exported as a PSD file.
* The user chooses how many times he/she wants to repeat the sandwich effect.
