OpenVPNManager [March-2022]
The OpenVPN Manager is an easy to use graphical interface to OpenVPN server management. It allows you to edit OpenVPN configuration files,
edit passwords, monitor log messages, execute commands, etc. It doesn't require SSH access and the source code is available under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later.
It supports both Linux and Windows platforms (64 bit and 32 bit versions).
OpenVPN Manager is written in C#.
It is still under development, so some features are not yet functional. But it can handle already most of the features needed for a professional OpenVPN server.
These days most of the OpenVPN systems are used for internet security. For this reason it is very important to secure the access with passwords and certificates.
So the OpenVPN Manager offers you this functionality, too.
The following "features" are currently not yet fully functional:
- The certificate and the password database is currently stored in the XML format. So you need to convert existing databases to XML for using them with the OpenVPN Manager.
- The certificate database is compressed by default. So you need to uncompress it before importing it into the OpenVPN Manager, if you want to use it for OpenVPN.
- You can't change the password of a certificate. So you need to delete the certificate first, than add the one you want to use.
- It is currently not possible to start OpenVPN as daemon, so the Manager needs to start the OpenVPN as root or with sudo rights.
- To load a certificate you need to select the certificate manually, to do this double click on the certificate. To have a list of available certificates right click on the certificate and select "Load certificate".
- The application can't be used from the closed host system (Server Host). The management interface is only suitable for the OpenVPN server on the same computer.
And also some User interface features:
- The user interface of OpenVPN Manager is designed to be very easy to use.
- For the interface the OpenVPN language defined by OpenVPN Protocol (hint) is used. So you need to know the language to understand the menus and buttons.
- The UI is made with Gtk#, so it is cross platform (Linux, Windows, Mac).
- A rating of the OpenVPN systems is available.
- You can select the languages you want to use with the user interface (OpenVPN Manager).
