AutoCAD 2004, released in November 2002, introduced the "Historical Release" of AutoCAD, giving users and developers a more powerful command-line approach. The AutoCAD 2004 Historical Release also introduced a top-down modeling approach, which is more efficient than traditional bottom-up modeling. AutoCAD 2005 continued this approach, and introduced a new style of drafting, which uses wire-frame, rather than solid-model, drawing tools.
The next generation of AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, was released in October 2007. AutoCAD LT introduced a new computer-aided drafting (CAD) application, called the Electronic Bill of Materials (BOM) Design Tool. The BOM design tool is a user interface that allows designers to create BOMs, generate bill of materials (BOM) drawings, and create graphical workflows.
AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT have been the most used CAD applications for the past 20 years. The most recent version of AutoCAD (AutoCAD LT) is version 2012.

Category:AutodeskA Toronto councillor has taken aim at the city’s new gun-free school zone legislation, saying that it is unfair to pass a law that does not protect students.
In a motion passed at the Oct. 16 meeting of Toronto’s executive committee, Peter Milczyn called for the city to halt the implementation of the ban on firearms in school zones until the results of a police investigation into who was responsible for last month’s shooting of two 12-year-old girls at Markham’s Riverview Public School are released.
The motion was deferred, but Councillor Milczyn said on Monday that the city should allow the police investigation to play out before taking action.
“A lot of information has come out in the last 48 hours,” he said in an interview. “I think that there has to be a more responsible approach.”
Milczyn said it is “ridiculous” that schools are off-limits to the public while there are not enough police to keep them safe. He also noted that there has not been a single weapons-related shooting at a school since the first two guns were banned in 2005.
But a city spokesperson said that the motion amounts to “pure frustration,” and that the city can’t “stop a police investigation.” The spokeswoman said that the motion reflects Councillor Milczyn’s “personal agenda,” and that he is “misusing his public office.”
In a written response to the Star’s questions about the motion, city spokesperson Michael Johnsen said that it would be inappropriate to debate the merits of a law that has yet to be implemented. He said that the city’s executive committee will soon be reviewing the school zone legislation,
