YEAR 1
This week Year 1 have completed assessments in Phonics, Mathematics, Reading, Writing and Tricky words. All I asked was for the children to try their best, and I was very proud that they all did just that! 
Also, this week we began making decorations for Halloween 👻🎃🧙‍♂️🧙‍♀️🦇🧛‍♀️🧛‍♂️
Our classroom is beginning to look spooky with spiders and webs and pumpkins and witches. All our activities are helping Year 1 with their fine motor skills. Scissors can be tricky to use and the more practice we have the better we get. 
Miss Indira took our phonics session on Tuesday so Miss Martin could observe and watch how each child joined in with all the sounds. In Mathematics we continued in our groups with Geometry, learning all about shapes and symmetry. 
In Computing we played 'Monkey Maths' a game using addition to 10. However, some children chose other games which tested their knowledge of numbers to 20. Year 1 had to log on and chose a game to play, then using their mouse, navigate the game. 
Poetry is such fun and Year 1 learnt their first poem 'The Little Turtle'. We acted out the poem to help us learn the words and then we wrote our own version of the poem. 
 I am such a proud teacher with amazing children. Keep up the great work, Year 1!
