Welcome to the EIS Newsletter, Issue No. 27!

Let's start with the photos below this text as they provide a great summary of the week. It has been busier than as usual, as events and occasions have converged regarding all things academia and beyond!

Congratulations to the winner of the Healthy Food Competition, your work will go onto the canteen wall and be framed. They should be there for many years to come so that is a wonderful achievement. Some excellent examples on display, I am sure you will agree. Hopefully, you will be able to see them on the photo or, even better, on the canteen wall itself, when you next visit.

Speaking of Art, I had to take a quick snap of the new Art display in the corridor as I was shocked at the height of the standard on display. Y8's exam work has been put up and when I mentioned the high standards of the work, Ms. Fox informed me that the level is at Y10 standard! That tells us all we need to know. They really do the school proud - a wonderful class, indeed. Of course, many of them have been with us for some years and have come through the Primary system.

Something else I took advantage of with my camera was Mr. Marsh putting up one of our new tents for the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE). As you may be aware, this year we are running the Bronze Award again, but also, for the first time, the Silver Award. We are both excited and respectful of the extra challenge that this presents. I took a picture of one of our new tents which is, essentially, an upgrade for teachers/students as we will be camping for two consecutive nights. I am sure you can appreciate the size just from the outside! We may use the other one for all three girls to stay in, but we will see.

I will not go into too much length about the toy collection this morning as Ms. Waldron will be covering it more extensively; however, I did manage to grab a quick photo (here I go again!) of some of the Student Council members who have been involved for some weeks. Thank you to all involved and to those who have donated to such a wonderful cause!

Finally, Mr. Aliabas - aka Aliabas Y6 - the hero of April Fool's Day got his just deserts this morning by being the proud recipient of the only Headteacher Award this week. It was well deserved and he had been unable to receive it last week as he was not well last Friday. That must have been the stress of the job, sir!
