To use the program, first select a folder for the R.A.L.E. recordings. Then
one can preview the recordings and tags, choose to export the file as an R.A.L.E. recording and optionally save it to disk. To view the R.A.L.E. file, select File|Open, select the R.A.L.E. file (by double clicking it) and press play. To save the file, open the file menu, choose Export, select R.A.L.E. file format, and press Save.
To analyze the R.A.L.E. file, select the Analyze menu, select data for analysis, press play and read the results. The data is available in the form of tab-delimited files, which can be imported into MatLab for further analysis.
To play the R.A.L.E. file, select File|Open, select the R.A.L.E. file (by double clicking it) and press play.
There are various settings in the program to calibrate to your speakers and microphone. You can choose either to use an automatic calibration or use user-adjustable settings.

Support for playback of each of the recording file-types in different speed, pitch and duration combinations is available. You can use the audio file as it is or make it quiet. It is possible to make a velocity histogram from the binary file or from a selection of a time range from the binary file.
Depending on the file type and its bit depth, the recorder can also record the max. amplitudes and duration of respiration.
To run the program from within a network, add the path of the program to the Windows PATH environment variable.
