Here on Earth, the Red Planet is often associated with Mars, but it is not a planet like Mars.
Instead, it's a nickname that was used to describe the red planet.
This planet looks like a planet from outer space, with its red surface and black nighttime-tinted atmosphere.
The surface of the planet looks like an old postage stamp -- that is to say, the surface does not have any features on it.
Tropical clouds fill the night sky in the evening and at dawn, giving the planet a surreal night effect.
The Red Planet is no stranger to our Solar System, as this is a frequent visitor.

This theme uses the second image of the first Mars Grand Tour photo from the orbiting Mars Express spacecraft, and it is called "The Disappearing Dipper" photo.
The photo was taken in September 2000 by the Mars Express spacecraft, which is the joint result of the European Space Agency and the German Aerospace Center, who managed the mission.
It doesn't look like it, but it is all "soft rendering", which means that it is being done with vector graphics, which allows the text and graphics to be scaled to any size, without losing resolution.
I'm pretty proud of the result, but I still have to work on it a bit more... (seeing as I used GIMP to do the coloring)
