EYFS 
Our Jolly Phonics letter/sound ‘C’ was reinforced through pictures stories and rhymes. The children enjoyed learning the songs and the actions and could be seen dancing rhythmically with their clicking castanets. 
Further extension of our phonics sound included the wonderfully illustrated story of the ‘The Selfish Crocodile’. By Faustin Charles 
A crocodile claims ownership of the forest's river and forcibly defends his turf. His impressive array of sharp teeth intimidates the other animals: ""Whenever they were thirsty, they had to go for miles out of their way to drink in other rivers and streams."" Then one day, when a terrible toothache torments the crocodile, a tiny mouse suddenly and inexplicably scurries into his mouth to extract the offending molar. The crocodile's hard heart quickly softens, and he realizes, ""The river belongs to all of us!""
This story included new vocabulary and the children were encouraged to answer some more inferential questions.

In art we designed our own selfish crocodile showcasing our dexterity through our cutting skills.
In offering our children many different experiences and opportunities to play freely and to explore and investigate, they are able to become more deeply involved in imaginative play, both indoors and outdoors. This enhances their confidence when coming up with their own ideas.
