The main goal is to make very fast and accurate triangulations on huge surfaces in homogeneous grids and more generally in grids with arbitrary defining function.
This toolbox is intended to be used from command line but you can also use its API for scripting (just call the "?help").
The toolbox is separated in several executables:
RobustCrust
It is based on the PowerCrust algorithm and is very robust against point cloud corruption. The surface reconstruction result is always watertight and the output triangulation provides a great number of information:

RobustCrust Description:
RobustCrust starts with the points cloud and automatically generates a Delaunay triangulation that tries to minimize the number of triangles around the point cloud. Some point cloud could be corrupted for different reasons but the triangulation returns never a water tight triangulation.
If you just want an accurate triangulation it is not necessary to use these parameters: you can just enter the points cloud to be triangulated.
Toolbox input:
The toolbox accepts point clouds defined by a vector and depth map, standard raster or graphs.
The surface reconstruction result is always provided as surface triangular meshes and usually provide an evaluation of the triangulation quality on all surface triangles and vertices: it is an excellent method to check the result (you can use even a 3D viewer to look at the result).
You can define other parameters as the number of point used to generate the Delaunay triangulation or the minimum number of points around a vertex to consider it as "close" and thus strongly impacting the number of vertices of the generated mesh.
The number of point cloud can also impact the best triangulation quality since, the bigger the cloud, the more points with which to generate the triangulation. If you are not sure if your point cloud is too big, you can run a trial by an increasing number of point to see if quality degrades too much.
In case of function defining surfaces, you can either define the grid of points of the surface or triangulate the function and then compute triangulation.
Note that input surface should be planar or planar perturbations should be added to the input surface.

RobustCrust is a triangulation algorithm. It is different than the one from the PowerCrust because the faces are not triangulated according to the altitude of the surface. They are rather triangulated according to the altitude of a series of elevations of a regular grid. So if we have multiple elevations of a regular grid, we get multiple surfaces, one for each elevation of this grid. But, in the end the triangulation is watertight and each surface has only one single face.
The algorithm takes an elevation representation as input.
