This is a general purpose inductor design, designed to accept all input parameters needed by the user.
Program Outputs:
1. Displays solution using "Figures of Merit" - inductance L, resistance R, permeability Pf, dc bias current Ibias and ac voltage Vac. Units are specific to the choice of units, so if using metric then the resistance will be in ohms and the ac voltage will be in volts.
2. Displays solution using "Ultimate Wiring" format - the percent of core covered by the windings, wire size, number of turns, and the specific electrical properties of the chosen core. The perforated or walled cores are from Micrometals web page.
3. Displays the final geometry (number of turns, windings, total cable cross sectional area)
4. Displays the final geometry in excel format for importing to AutoCAD
5. Shows a full 3d geometry of the design
6. Allows for the saving of the design of the inductor to a file and quick printing of the design from a file
7. Allows the redesign of the inductor based on new input information

Micrometals Inductor Software is used to design and develop complex micrometals inductor core and winding structures. It is compatible with both ANSI- and Micrometals coil structures. It is designed for the complete inductor package to help eliminate guesswork in final design and reduce cost. I’ve been employed for a year now, and there are some things I really like about my job, but I’m wondering if it might be wiser to look elsewhere. One thing I like about my job (and about my employer) is that it allows for contributing both to a 401k and an employer match. The amount to contribute and receive is either a percentage of my salary or a fixed amount, whichever I choose.
The trouble is, my 401k is currently maxing out all my contributions. And without it, I can’t contribute to a better 401k through my employer (which would do a lot to increase my savings rate). I’m paying $1,100/year into the retirement fund and then about $400/year in taxes on it. So it’s a wash; I don’t get any benefit out of this investment vehicle.
But I really like my employer. I love my coworkers and I think we get a great environment. So is it worth continuing to contribute to a 401k that isn’t giving me any return?

I’m in a similar position (partial tenure at a company that’s not offering matching). My plan is to move to Roth for my 401(k) contribution once I’m vested (taking advantage of the tax free nature of IRAs), which could take a year or two, but which I’m planning to do sooner rather than later, to get it out of the tax burden. I’m also keeping half of my voluntary company match, which will be $600 this year.
