YEAR 1
This week in Year 1 we have been looking at non-chronological reports (NCRs). We have learned that they are a type of non-fiction text that gives us information about a topic. We identified the special features of NCRs and we read and answered questions about a report on crocodiles. Then, we watched a video to find information about penguins so we could write our own penguin non-chronological reports. 
In Maths, we looked at how the day can be broken into morning, afternoon, evening and night and the times associated with each of these parts. We have been revising adding and subtracting by counting on or back and number bonds to 20 in preparation for our end of unit Maths assessments. 
In Science we have continued looking at the properties of materials. This week we looked at different slimes. We described the properties of the slimes and judged which we thought was best and why based on whether it was runny, squishy, sticky etc. We then looked at transparent and opaque and tested which material would be best to make a pair of curtains. Although both tin foil and fabric did not let light through, we thought that fabric curtains would look better than curtains made of foil!
In Topic, we looked at the smallest continent, Australia. We are beginning to learn that there are five oceans. We started by looking at the biggest, the Pacific.
