Serial Music Composer aims to be a convenient interface that the musician can use to create music by using a combination of standard MIDI input and several types of algorithmic music composition techniques.

Serial Music Composer is designed to make the user aware of algorithmic composition techniques in order to compose music using these techniques.
It is possible to write compositions using several techniques that sound other than the twelve-tone scale. The program also implements several variations of such techniques.
Additionally, the user has the ability to use the conventional tonal instruments of General MIDI.
Serial Music Composer is designed to let the user compose music on the fly. The user has the ability to compose music using the mouse or on a keyboard. The user is not limited to a specific method or to a specific type of keyboard.
