STUDENT COUNCIL

On Tuesday 24th October six members of EIS Student Council brought our Food Donation into MPC. Daniel Ekat, who has worked with MPC for over 30 years, thanked the children for their donation and explained how the food would be distributed to people in need. Daniel explained about the social support services which MPC run for refugees, which include support with food, housing, medical assistance and learning Russian language. It was a wonderful visit and I believe the children were inspired to help others. Please read their recounts of the trip! We would like to thank all of the EIS community for contributing to our Food Collection. Our Student Council meet weekly and I hope we will become involved with many more charity initiatives in our community.

So, we arrived at MPC and met Daniel, the organiser. We introduced ourselves and he told us that he is from Cameroon which gave me the thought that he probably could speak in French. I started speaking in French with him by introducing myself and asking questions about our donation. "Who will our donation be given to?", "Is it for children only or for all ages with family?" Then he responded that it is for everyone of all nationalities. "We are volunteers and this donation you have provided will be given to them".

Ammar Year 13.

On Tuesday we went on the bus at 9,15. It took us about 40minutes! We met Daniel, the organiser, who told us that MPC started it's work in 1962 and social services started in 1993. We brought around 15 bags of food to donate. When we were traveling back to school, Ms Waldron asked us to name the statue in the river and Sharjil and I both knew it was Peter the Great and we earned a house point. So I had a really great time!

Barbara Year 4.

We went on the bus with Ms Waldron. We talked to Mr Daniel and he said he liked his work. He said that at the end of the day he was happy even if he is tired as he has helped many people. We collected 15 giant bags of food and 2 bags with shoes and clothes. Daniel told us that he does this work because he does not like to see people going hungry and he helps refugees who have left their country. We learned that Daniel is from Cameroon.
