You can add new layers to your file at any time, but one of the most common reasons to add a layer is to create a new background.

The following tutorial assumes you have a basic understanding of image editing and web design.
1. Setting Up Photoshop Elements
First, you need Adobe Photoshop Elements, which you can download here. You can also find the software on the manufacturer’s website.
If you have Adobe Photoshop available on your computer or smartphone, you don’t need Elements. You can simply continue using the previous version of Photoshop. If you have a version of Photoshop that is older than 2018 and already has Elements, you can consider switching to the Elements version if you’re happy with the features and user interface, but you should remember you’ll need to purchase all of the required upgrades to enjoy the latest updates and features.
Downloading and installing Adobe Photoshop Elements is easy. First, download the program from here. After downloading, open the package and follow the instructions to install it.
2. Preparing Images for Editing
Setting up for the first time can be difficult for beginners. You’ll need images to work with for editing and creating new high-quality images.
Your photos don’t need to be super-amazing photos, just average photos. Download a couple for a trial run, and add some more if you prefer.
There’s no need to download and organize them all. For now, leave them where they are.
Once you’ve chosen your images, the first thing you need to do is arrange them in your desktop. Images can be saved in many sizes, from very small up to 3000px high, but the default size is 300px for a quick, simple layout.
If you’re using Windows or macOS, you can drag images from your folder and drop them into the main window. If you’re using a different operating system, there are other methods to add images to the main window, depending on your operating system. There are some drawbacks to this approach and I’ll explain them later.
3. Adding and Hiding Elements
If you’re using Windows, you can use Windows Explorer to add and hide the image in the main window.
You’ll need to find the main window and then select the file you want to add.
When you see the Select tab at the bottom of the screen, click the Add image button and then add the image to the main window.
