You shouldn't write them both in software. You should be writing them in hardware (preferably in hardware, but you may find you need a simulator)
There's a problem with the test you've written. It looks at all wireless devices in the same class and compares speed using some macro thing. It needs to compare them against each other, not a comparison of all available IEEE802.11g wireless devices. You need to filter the devices down to only those that meet the standard, and compare those.
Try something like this.
